Steps to Dual Boot two Windows operating systems
1. Get a copy of your desired version of Windows: Let's say you already have a Windows 10 installation and need Windows 7, you will need to either download it to a USB stick or get a copy burned onto a DVD disk. You can easily find a bootable file easily on the internet as it is available on several websites or you can purchase a physical disk copy from a nearby store that sells computer accessories.
2. Create bootable Media: You can skip this step if the second version that you are looking to install is on a DVD since that is already going be in bootable form and all you have to do is carry on with the installation. Otherwise, you will either need an empty DVD or USB flash drive with at least 8 GB (Gigabytes) of storage to create a bootable media for installation. You can use the media creation tool from Microsoft if you have a product key available and are looking to install Windows 10 as your secondary OS, or if you don't have a product or are looking to install Windows 7, there are many third party tools available on the internet with simple tutorials on YouTube that allow you to create either a bootable USB or DVD for installation.
3. Create a new partition for the second copy of Windows: If you are looking to install on a desktop computer, your best option is to use a separate hard drive or a solid state drive for the new OS. By doing so, your existing OS won't have to compromise on space on the drive it is installed on and you won't need to perform any repartitioning. However, you can also use your existing disk drive for your second installation if you wish by making space for it through repartitioning with the help of Windows Disk Management (found in the control panel) or any other Disk Management software of your choice.
4. Install Windows: With Windows 10 and 7 both, you have the option to perform the installation straight from your File Explorer.
