HOW TO MAKE LIVES BETTER FOR WOMEN IN THIS SOCIETY

For the final edition of this blog series, I will talk about perhaps the most common aspect of the topic- our dear society. It’s not like none of us knows what goes on in the society, what happens behind the doors of houses, what happens in the gossip of people and what is said in the pointless taunts and remarks passed as a part of routine. Therefore, I will not waste words trying to explain what is wrong, neither will I mention how to right it. I will simply mention the efforts that are already underway because luckily once again, this is one of the aspects that has had some light shed on to it in recent years. Every other week we see stories, posts and campaigns on social media. A new harassment case, rape cases, and murder cases against women and trust me when I say that it’s the social media that brings all of these cases into light and tries to ensure justice for the victims. Our paper and TV media is controlled, they are forced to deliver a narrative in order to delude the publi...

HOW TO STRIKE PERFECT WORK-LIFE BALANCE: 4 STRATEGIES

Are you constantly trying to strike a balance between your work life and personal life but are not quiet getting there?

Do you often feel stressed because of too much work and neglecting your family? Or, if you spend a lot of time in your private life, are you worried that your supervisors think you are not focused or dedicated enough?

If you fail to balance work and life, your health will also be paying price. This can lead to increased stress, unhappiness, and even lack of sleep.

Following are the five ways I have figured out that have been working out for me for the past 2 years:

1. Figure out what the right balance is for you

The definition of "ideal state of work-life balance" in everyone's mind may be completely different, so you must take some time to understand what your ideal balance looks like. It is very important for you to find out things like how much time do you really need to spend at work? How much time do you need to spend with family? What is the appropriate time to be given to studies? And so on.

2. Grasp the work-life balance by yourself

At times, you will have no skills and can't do everything by yourself. Knowing your main priorities can ensure that you set aside time for the most important things.

At work, make a task list and consider assigning some less important responsibilities. At home, you may need to give up part of your affairs and focus on other more important activities. Undoubtedly, this means that you sometimes need to say "no". Although it may seem difficult at first glance, if always saying "yes" makes you feel unhappy and stressed, then saying "no" is a step you must take.
For example, I know I need to leave for office (a 12 hours shift) after my E-commerce class and there is an opportunity of getting an hour’s rest – meanwhile my friends ask to hangout – I should be politely saying “No”.

3. Consider your work schedule

Reducing your working hours may be one of the most effective measures to achieve work-life balance, such as changing your work from full-time to part-time. Of course, this approach is not always feasible, especially when you need to share financial pressure for your family.
I would, again like to give my own example so as to further clarify the point being made: I know my full-time job cannot be changed into a part-time but I certainly can make myself efficient enough to finish off an hourly earlier than normal routine at least – These are the baby-steps that you should be taking.

Although you may be reluctant to negotiate with your boss or seek his help, communicating with your boss is the best way to find out if you have other options, such as whether you can work flexibly or work from home.

4. Make time to be with your family

Is work always your first priority? If you often deal with work in the process of participating in leisure activities, please stop doing so immediately. Just like arranging a work meeting, you need to arrange a special time to gather with family and friends or even arrange yourself alone. Only in this way can the private life be arranged in the schedule and get your attention.

Of course, you not only need to do it yourself, but you also have to change your mind. Therefore, please turn off your laptop and mute your phone so that you don’t think about work when you should relax.
