For the final edition of this blog series, I will talk about perhaps the most common aspect of the topic- our dear society. It’s not like none of us knows what goes on in the society, what happens behind the doors of houses, what happens in the gossip of people and what is said in the pointless taunts and remarks passed as a part of routine. Therefore, I will not waste words trying to explain what is wrong, neither will I mention how to right it. I will simply mention the efforts that are already underway because luckily once again, this is one of the aspects that has had some light shed on to it in recent years. Every other week we see stories, posts and campaigns on social media. A new harassment case, rape cases, and murder cases against women and trust me when I say that it’s the social media that brings all of these cases into light and tries to ensure justice for the victims. HOW TO BECOME AN HR MANAGER


So you just met one of your childhood friends who is an HR Manager and you think to yourself, “boy, if only I could be at such a position, too!” Well, becoming an HR manager is a dream for many, from point of view of professional life. But “with great power comes great responsibilities”. An HR manager is the one having responsibilities related to workplace, hiring, recruitment, planning, controlling, organizing, leading and many more.

If you seek a high ranking position in HR, following are the stepping stones:

·         Education

·         Experience

·         Application

These details are as follows:

Education

Earning a degree in Related Field

According to the world statistics, the requirement for becoming an HR manager at an entry level is bachelor’s degree. Similarly, for higher level, you require to have a master’s degree in human resource or any related field such as finance, supply chain, public relations etc.   

Filling the internship requirement

Internship is associated with your degree and is not necessarily the requirement for the HR managerial position. An intern is going to have real world work experience along with the credit hours helping in the future for HR position.

Gaining certifications for additional privileges

There are thousands of courses offered by different institutes related to HR which help gain certification and add certain privileges in qualifying for HR managerial position. Do consider doing such certification for gaining competitive advantage!

Experience

Gaining an experience in the relevant field

One cannot jump into a very responsible position based on his education and certification only, he has to have work experience in real life to qualify for such a big position. Such work experience includes lower to middle managers work experience in recruitment, selection, other HR functions etc.  

 

Application

Applying for Managerial Position

Once you have completed all the essential criteria for HR manager’s position, now is the time to apply for your dream position. You have now more chances of acceptance because of the privileges that you have gained as explained above. If there is a possibility of rejection, never be afraid of it. Remember! That you learn from your mistakes and failures. Never give up on your dreams, be persistent and keep going.  

Considering job-fit

It is important for you to consider your job-fit. Many of the people get their dream job but never develop a fit for such position and at the end of the day, result in blunders and even leaving such position for the better. Hence consider your job-fit with the position before applying which is done by studying the vision, mission, objectives and values of the organization for which you are applying. If your values match with the values and mission of the organization, hurry for applying!

I recently came across a government post on Facebook, under which there was a person who made a certain remark in the comments. The guy so boldly suggested that women should not be allowed to give the CSS exam since their area of expertise lies in the cleaning of houses and cooking of food and not in the running of the country. He added, “Their eligibility to take the exam steals the opportunity from qualified individuals like myself and puts it into their inexperienced hands”. I laughed it off since it was clear that this person was crying over his own incompetence and decided to throw the blame over the women. It’s the year 2021 and all aspects of life have significantly progressed over time.
